MANILA, Philippines — A P200,000 insurance payout was turned over to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday by the company that owned the truck in last December’s fatal multi-vehicle crash along Katipunan Avenue.
The road crash incident late evening Dec. 5 killed four people, injured 25 and involved a passenger bus, a 10-wheeler closed van, an L300 van, five cars, and 16 motorcycles.

“Yung claims nga sa insurance is medyo maliit, so we understand that. The company is pooling funds din to at least reach out to the victims na lumapit na para lang din ma-alleviate yung unnecessary gastos na nangyari dahil sa aksidente,” he added.

Article continues after this advertisementIn its investigation, the LTO found that the truck involved in the accident was “unfit to be operated” and ordered a 90-day preventive suspension on the registration of the truck.
