CITY OF ILAGAN337jili, Isabela – A 20-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairperson died after his motorcycle crashed into a parked car along the shoulder of the national road in Barangay Malalam at around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police reported.

The victim, Aerome Jose Cabalonga, a third-year nursing student and the incumbent SK chairperson of Centro-San Antonio, sustained fatal head injuries. His motorcycle was severely damaged in the collision.

According to Police Captain Noralyn Andal, spokesperson for the Ilagan police, authorities are investigating the liability of the car owner, who had been regularly parking her Mitsubishi Mirage along the national road’s shoulder in front of her house.

Initial reports indicated that Cabalonga, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was on his way home after attending a party with friends in the población when the accident occurred.

He was rushed to Faustino Dy Memorial Hospital, a provincial government-run facility, but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities are considering filing a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the car owner.
