The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, lower and upper houses of Parliament, were adjourned sine die on Friday following uproar over the Ambedkar controversy.

In the Lok Sabha, both Opposition and treasury benches intensely protested against the alleged insult to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Speaker Om Birla’s directions barring demonstrations at the Parliament gates.

As the House convened for the day, Birla called on Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal to present a resolution for constituting a joint committee of Parliament to examine the bills related to 'One Nation, One Election'. However, slogans of "Jai Bhim" began reverberating in the House as the Speaker read out his directions that prohibited protests demonstrations at Parliament’s gates.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi entered the Lok Sabha amid the slogan. Law Minister Meghwal moved the resolution for the joint committee, but Congress members, led by Manickam Tagore, stormed the Well of the House and raised further slogans.

The protesting Opposition members remained in the Well of the House even as "Vande Mataram" was played in accordance of parliamentary convention at the close of the session.
